University of Sindh Awards Scholarships Worth Over 68 Lakh to Students

Jamshoro, The University of Sindh has taken a significant step in supporting its students’ educational endeavors by distributing checks totaling 68 lakh 41 thousand rupees to 172 deserving students as part of various scholarship programs. Among these, hosteler students received 1 lakh 40 thousand rupees each under the National Endowment Scholarship for Talent (NEST).

According to University of Sindh, the check distribution ceremony was held in the Senate Hall of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Mohammad Siddiq Kalhoro, presided over the event and awarded the scholarships, which included funds from the NEST Scholarship, the Students Welfare Fund, and the Sindh Educational Endowment Fund.

The breakdown of the awards included 12 lakh 32 thousand rupees distributed among 11 students of the 2020 batch and 7 students of the 2021 batch, with the 2022 and 2023 batches receiving 24 lakh 60 thousand and 12 lakh 60 thousand respectively. Additionally, 15 students benefited from the Students Welfare Fund with checks worth Rs.517,000, and another 16 students received a total of Rs.980,000 under the Sindh Educational Endowment Fund.

In his address, Professor Kalhoro highlighted the importance of these scholarships in aiding students, particularly noting the contribution of university teachers to the Students Welfare Fund, which is financed by monthly deductions from their salaries. Each recipient from this fund received a check of 20 thousand rupees, while the Sindh Educational Endowment Fund provided 33 thousand rupees per student.

The ceremony was attended by prominent university figures including Registrar and Director Students Financial Aid Office Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ali Jariko, as well as other deans and directors. The event not only celebrated the financial assistance provided to students but also underscored the university’s commitment to fostering an environment that supports academic excellence.
