SARGODHA: The University of Sargodha’s Department of Entomology recently hosted a seminar aimed at addressing the pressing issue of pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables. The event, held under the initiative Research Arena 2025, sought to explore research-based solutions for promoting safer and more sustainable agricultural practices.

The seminar began with an inauguration by Prof. Dr. Ijaz Rasool Noorka, Principal of the College of Agriculture. He emphasized the critical need for informed pesticide management practices to safeguard human health and maintain environmental quality, while also ensuring the sustainability of agricultural activities.

A technical session featured Dr. Muhammad Zeeshan Majeed, who provided an in-depth presentation on the residual effects of pesticides found in agricultural produce. He detailed the potential health and environmental risks associated with pesticide residues and discussed effective preventive measures, including responsible application and monitoring.

Contributing to the seminar, Mr. Muhammad Zeeshan from Shihezi University, China, spoke on recent advancements in pesticide delivery systems. His presentation focused on enhancing field protection through precision and efficiency, alongside reducing the ecological impact of pest management technologies.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Irfan Ullah, Chairman of the Department of Entomology, concluded the seminar by commending the participation of faculty members and students. He highlighted the necessity of research-driven innovation in the pursuit of sustainable agricultural development.
