University of Sargodha Hosts Anti-Drug Awareness Session for Students

Sargodha: The University of Sargodha conducted an anti-drug and anti-tobacco awareness session at its Department of Economics, aligning with directives from the Higher Education Commission, Punjab Higher Education Commission, and Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas. The initiative aimed to educate students about the dangers of drug and tobacco use.

According to University of Sargodha, the session, titled “Awareness Today, Protection Tomorrow: How Addiction Changed Body and Behavior,” targeted class and group representatives. Guest speakers Dr Aysha Azhar, a lecturer and RMO at UMC&RC, and Dr Mohsin Atta, assistant professor at the Department of Psychology, addressed the attendees. They discussed the detrimental effects of drugs and smoking on physical health, mental wellbeing, and human behavior.

Dr Mehmoodul Hassan, Director of Student Affairs and Chairman of the Anti-Drug and Tobacco Committee, also spoke, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to shield young individuals from substance abuse. The program concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students inquired about addiction and its social and psychological impacts. Dr Saifullah and Syed Abid Hussain Shah, secretary of the Anti-Drug and Tobacco Committee, were also in attendance.
