University of Poonch to Enhance Sports Facilities Amid Concerns Over Youth Internet and Drug Use

Rawalakot: Addressing the growing concerns over drug addiction and negative internet use among youth, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zakaria Zakir of Jamia Poonch emphasized the vital role of educational institutions in promoting positive activities through enhanced sports infrastructure. He announced plans for the construction of state-of-the-art sports facilities at Poonch University during an inspection of the ongoing development at Chhota Gula Ground.

According to University of Poonch Rawalakot, Dr. Zakir highlighted the need for a robust response to the challenges posed by the misuse of drugs and the internet, which he said are contributing to increased violence and diminishing the mental and physical capacities of young people. The university is currently working on constructing three sports grounds, with the planning stage for the broader sports infrastructure project, known as PC-1, already underway.

The Vice Chancellor expressed hope for federal government support in these endeavors and outlined the university’s commitment to creating a vibrant environment where students can engage in sports to reduce stress. He envisions the University of Poonch not only as a center for academic excellence but also as a hub for outstanding sports facilities and a dynamic community life.
