Rawalkot: Professor Dr. Muhammad Zakaria Zakir, Vice Chancellor of the University of Poonch, highlighted the institution’s enhanced focus on research, teaching, and student skill development during a comprehensive address to faculty members. Under his leadership, the university has notably expanded its infrastructure and facilities, aligning them with global standards and market demands.
According to University of Poonch Rawalakot, Dr. Zakir detailed the university’s recent developments in a joint meeting with faculty members, including the establishment of departments tailored to modern needs, world-class faculty appointments, and the enhancement of sports facilities. These improvements, he asserted, position the University of Poonch as a formidable option for students in Azad Kashmir, negating the need to seek education in larger universities.
During the meeting, which also saw the participation of the Registrar Dr. Abdul Rauf among others, faculty members proposed strategies to meet admission targets, suggestions that were well-received by the Vice Chancellor. Dr. Zakir also emphasized the removal of previous infrastructure and facility deficits, noting that the university now regularly hosts seminars, workshops, and international conferences to foster connections with leading professionals worldwide.
Highlighting the university’s impact, Dr. Zakir mentioned that University of Poonch graduates are successfully occupying prominent positions both locally and internationally, contributing significantly in various sectors. Furthermore, the university is actively engaged in community training initiatives to strengthen community ties and support local industries, ensuring students receive practical guidance in their chosen fields.
