University of Peshawar Seminar Discusses Global Foreign Policy Trends

Rawalkot: Professor Dr. Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Chairperson of the International Relations Department at the University of Peshawar, emphasized the weakening of democracy in the presence of strong unelected institutions during a seminar titled “Global Scenario and Emerging Trends in Foreign Policy.” Held by the Department of International Relations at the University of Poonch, the event explored the shifting dynamics of global foreign policy amid significant political, economic, and technological changes.

According to University of Peshawar, Dr. Suhrawardy analyzed the impact of various global trends on foreign policies, including the influence of emerging economies like China and India. He highlighted the importance of reevaluating Pakistan’s foreign policy priorities to better address regional issues and reject Western philosophical frameworks that do not suit local needs. Additional insights were provided by Dr. Uzma Munshi and Dr. Abid Hussain, who also spoke at the seminar, stressing the importance of adapting to a rapidly evolving international landscape.
