University of Haripur Launches Heritage Session to Promote Peacebuilding

Haripur: The University of Haripur has initiated a new series of co-curricular sessions aimed at promoting peace through cultural understanding, as part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s efforts to counter violent extremism. The inaugural session, titled “Heritage and Cultural Promotion for Peacebuilding,” was held in the university’s Video Conference Room, attracting students, faculty, and staff.

The event focused on the role of cultural preservation and heritage in fostering societal harmony. Mr. Nauman Khan, a lecturer from the Department of History and Politics, served as the resource person for the session. He discussed how cultural heritage serves as a reflection of collective identity and acts as a bridge for dialogue and mutual respect. Khan also highlighted the potential of heritage promotion in countering extremist narratives and contributing to long-term peacebuilding.

Prof. Dr. Aziz Ullah, Dean of the Faculty of Biological and Biomedical Sciences and Chief Organizer of Trainings at the Human Resource Development Centre, emphasized the university’s dedication to engaging students in activities that nurture values of inclusivity, peace, and responsible citizenship.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where students shared their perspectives on cultural revival and its impact on creating a peaceful society. This session is the first in a series under the KP-CVE Calendar of Activities for the academic year 2025-26. The next session, focusing on “Women Empowerment and Inclusion in Decision Making,” is scheduled for December 10, 2025.
