Haripur: The University of Haripur’s Business Incubation Center (BIC) has taken a major step in promoting entrepreneurship within the region by completing its first round of selection interviews for BIC Cohort 01. This initiative aims to foster innovation and drive economic growth through supporting emerging startups.
Eighteen startup ventures participated in the event, showcasing a range of sectors and thematic areas. The diverse group included student-led businesses, faculty-driven innovations, and community-based initiatives. This variety reflects the university’s inclusive approach to strengthening its innovation ecosystem.
The selection process was conducted by a panel of senior academic leaders and industry representatives. The panel included Dr. Muhammad Jahangir, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization; Dr. Mazhar Rafique, Additional Director of ORIC and Manager of the Business Incubation Center; Mr. Saqib Awan, Assistant Provost of the University of Haripur; Mr. Zafar Khan Gakhar, a representative from the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Dr. Sheraz Ahmad from the Institute of Management Sciences at the university.
During the interviews, the selection committee noted the strong entrepreneurial intent and market understanding displayed by the ventures. The panel expressed confidence in the candidates’ readiness and the university’s role in supporting them to develop viable business solutions.
Dr. Mazhar Rafique highlighted the importance of launching BIC Cohort 01 in empowering young innovators and fostering collaboration between academia and industry. He pointed out that the Business Incubation Center seeks to provide necessary mentorship, infrastructure, and capacity-building opportunities for startups to scale effectively.
Those advancing to the next phase will receive comprehensive incubation support, including workspace, technical assistance, and training programs. Additionally, they will gain access to valuable industry networks.
