Haripur, The University of Haripur has successfully conducted the 21st meeting of its Academic Council, marking a significant step forward in its commitment to academic excellence and institutional development. The meeting, which took place in the Committee Room of the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat, was chaired by Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman, the Vice Chancellor, and attended by a distinguished group of participants including the Registrar, Deans of Faculties, Chairpersons/Heads of the Departments, newly elected members of the Academic Council, and co-opted members.
According to The University of Haripur, the session began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcoming address by the Vice Chancellor, who extended his greetings to all attendees and expressed a warm welcome to the newly elected members of the Academic Council. The meeting was characterized by productive discussions and decisive actions that built upon the outcomes of the previous session.
Key decisions made during the meeting include the adoption of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Institutional Affiliation Policy, 2024, signaling the university’s alignment with national academic standards and policies. Furthermore, the council recommended the formulation of an internship or field experience policy for undergraduate students, aiming to enhance their practical skills and employability. The proposal for organizing study tours was also approved, providing students with opportunities for experiential learning outside the classroom.
Another noteworthy initiative is the initiation of a calligraphy certificate course, which underscores the university’s dedication to promoting cultural and artistic skills among its students. Additionally, the establishment of a 5% quota for the admission of children of overseas Pakistanis reflects the university’s efforts to accommodate the educational needs of the Pakistani diaspora.
The meeting also led to recommendations for the advancement of the Department of Nursing Science and the Department of Pharmacy, highlighting the university’s focus on expanding and improving its healthcare education offerings.
