Chitral: The University of Chitral has announced that it will close its doors on July 16th and 17th, 2024, in observance of Ashura, marking the 9th and 10th of Muharram 1446 A.H. This closure aligns with the remembrance of this significant event in Islamic history.
According to University of Chitral, the decision follows the directive issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Administration Department, ensuring that the academic schedule accommodates the religious observances associated with Ashura. The notification specifies that while the university premises will be closed, all other scheduled academic activities or any prescheduled examinations will remain as planned unless otherwise stated.
Ashura is commemorated by Muslims worldwide as a day of mourning for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, at the Battle of Karbala. It is a time of solemn remembrance and reflection for the community.
