Lahore: The Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore announced the approval of 25% arrears for faculty at the Teaching Staff Association's Annual General Body Meeting. The decision, welcomed with applause, promises to address longstanding faculty demands and will be implemented in two installments.
According to University of Engineering and Technology, the event was attended by UET's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, who was the chief guest. The President of the Teaching Staff Association, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shoaib, began the meeting by acknowledging the university's leadership under Dr. Munir and highlighting the institution's progress in overcoming financial challenges. He also emphasized faculty welfare and called for the disbursement of salary arrears.
Dr. Tanveer Qasim, General Secretary of the association, presented the annual performance report and expressed appreciation for the Vice Chancellor's efforts to address faculty concerns. The Vice Chancellor's announcement of the arrears came amid discussions on faculty promotions, with Dr. Munir outlining ongoing efforts to expedite the promotion process across various academic ranks.
The meeting also included the presentation of commemorative shields to retiring professors, acknowledging their service to the university. The event concluded with a luncheon, providing participants an opportunity to engage and interact.
