Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore’s 237th Academic Council meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, has resulted in the approval of several new academic programs and the establishment of a Center of Excellence. This strategic move is aimed at aligning the university’s educational offerings with contemporary industry and academic demands.
During the meeting, attended by deans, the registrar, and departmental heads, key recommendations for the 2026 Admission Policy were also introduced. Vice Chancellor Dr. Munir expressed satisfaction with the council’s decisions, highlighting their potential to enhance the university’s curriculum and better prepare students for the evolving job market.
The newly approved programs include BSc Software Engineering, BS Logistics and Supply Chain Management, BS Industrial Chemistry, and BS Remote Sensing and GIS. These programs are designed to provide students with specialized knowledge and practical skills, equipping them for emerging fields and diverse career paths.
In addition, the council has sanctioned the creation of a Center of Excellence at UET Lahore. This center will focus on offering short-term courses to advance professional skills and training. The council also adopted revisions to admission policies, including updates to the fee refund policy, merit criteria, international student admissions, and the scholarship policy.
These developments underscore UET Lahore’s commitment to academic innovation and institutional progress, reflecting a proactive approach to addressing the needs of modern education and industry.
