Lahore: Orange Line Metro Rail Transit System (OLMRTS), in collaboration with the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, inaugurated the "UET Professor Studio" at the Orange Line metro rail Depot, marking a step forward in academic-industry collaboration within Pakistan's urban rail transit sector. The initiative, underpinned by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NORINCO-GMG-DAEWOO (JV) - OLMRTS and UET Lahore, is part of the Pakistan Urban Rail Transit Research and Innovation Cooperation Project.

According to the University of Engineering and Technology, the ceremony was attended by a UET Lahore delegation led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, who was received by Mr. Tan Zidong, CEO of OLMRTS, alongside senior management of Orange Line Metro Rail. The event commenced at the Operations Control Centre, where the objectives of the UET Professor Studio were outlined. This facility is designed to provide UET students, researchers, and faculty with exposure to a real-time urban rail environment, fostering collaboration with Orange Line engineers and Chinese experts.

The delegation was also given a tour of the OCC Control Centre to gain an understanding of Orange Line's operational systems. The formal inauguration of the UET Professor Studio took place at the Train Simulator and Training Centre, where a commemorative plaque was unveiled by Mr. Tan Zidong and Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir. Following this, the attendees visited various facilities, including the train simulator and the dedicated classroom for future academic activities.

The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting and group photograph, symbolizing the joint commitment of OLMRTS and UET Lahore to bridge academia and industry, promote applied research and innovation, and develop skilled talent for the future of Pakistan's urban rail transit sector.
