Haripur: The University of Haripur has undergone a notable transformation under the stewardship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman from 2022 to 2026, marking its emergence as a leading institution in Pakistan’s higher education sector. During this period, the university has achieved significant milestones in global recognition, quality assurance, research productivity, and infrastructure development, among other areas.
According to the University of Haripur, its progression has been marked by a rise in international visibility, with the institution securing placements in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and QS Asia Rankings. Additionally, the university has been recognized as a leader in Medical and Health Sciences in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as in Life Sciences and Physical Sciences.
The university's Quality Enhancement Cell reported an improvement in its score from 46.69 in 2021-22 to 86.69 in 2024-25. Enrollment numbers surged from 6,395 to 10,540 during the same period, and over 100 academic programs have been introduced, including disciplines like Artificial Intelligence and Biotechnology.
Research productivity saw a significant increase, with annual publications rising from 120 to 558. Financial sustainability was also bolstered, with the university's budget more than doubling and significant growth in scholarships and financial assistance, benefiting over 2,300 students.
The university has prioritized professional development, conducting numerous faculty and staff programs to enhance educational quality and operational efficiency. Infrastructure and digital advancements were made through the construction of new facilities and the implementation of advanced digital systems.
