Islamabad: In a significant move for the Muharram observances, the central Ishra Ishrah Karbala Committee of Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh Jafariya Pakistan convened a meeting chaired by Dr. Ali Mehdi to appoint convenors across various regions for the planned mourning activities. The appointments include prominent figures across the federation and provinces, aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the mourning processions and gatherings from 15-25 Muharram, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Zainul Abidin.
According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, the meeting outlined the organization of religious events including funeral meetings in Imambargahs and Izakhans across Pakistan, culminating in processions. Dr. Mehdi emphasized the importance of following the path illuminated by the teachings of Hazrat Hussain (AS) Ibn Ali (AS) to alleviate human suffering. He also highlighted the need for the government to provide special security arrangements for these events to ensure they proceed without any disturbances.
The meeting also marked the official kick-off of the International Decade of Karbala, with similar commemorations taking place globally. This initiative reflects the extended period of mourning that goes beyond Muharram, continuing until the eighth of Rabi’ul Awwal. The leaders called for immediate actions to support mourners across the country, including the establishment of a dedicated Muharram control room.
A separate but related event will be held in Tarlai Kalan under the guidance of Syed Mahmood Ali Shah Naqvi and Syed Khairat Al-Husnain. The annual mourning ceremony for the martyrs of Karbala is scheduled for the 15th of Muharram at Qasr Hussainiya Tarlai Kalan, where various speakers will address the attendees, followed by a traditional procession.
