An Interactive Refresher Training Session On Tang Cloud Platform for Students of UOS

Sargodha, March 28, 2023 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Institute of China Studies (PICS) on March 21, 2023, organized a day long “Interactive Refresher Training Session” for the students and faculty of the University of Sargodha enrolled in the Tang Chinese Language Program. The Interactive Session organized in four different groups focused on trouble-shooting the technical problems encountered by the students while using the Tang Cloud Platform through a combination of apps – Tang Class, Ding Talk and VooV.

Director PICS, Dr. Fazal ur Rahman moderated the session, while Mr. Yasser Shakoor, Regional Director of Tang International Education Group China, and Mr. Rashid Mehmood, Manager of Academics and Operations at Tang were the main interlocutors. In his opening remarks, Director PICS emphasized the importance of learning the Chinese language as China and Pakistan are close friends for a long time and now that China is nearing to become a developed country, it is the best time for Pakistanis to benefit from this window of opportunity.

China’s policy towards Pakistani students is very favourable and those who learn Chinese language here can easily get scholarships from good universities in China. He further said that the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qasir Abass, who himself holds a PhD from China has created a huge opportunity through Tang Chinese International Education for the students of Sargodha University and the students should take full advantage of this initiative. At present 22 Tang Chinese language classes comprising 25 students each are operational at the UoS.

Mr. Yasser Shakoor, in his presentation said that learning Chinese language may aid students in finding employment and qualifying for Chinese scholarships. He emphasized that learning Chinese would help people from two different nations become more acquainted with one another and understand each other’s cultures. He also ascertained feed-back from the students regarding their experience of using Tang Cloud Platform. Mr. Rashid Mehmood gave an insightful lecture to the students on how to learn Chinese characters in an easy way by tracing the history of the characters.

He explained in detail the evaluation system for this course besides answering and resolving their issues regarding the usage of Tang Cloud Platform Applications. In his closing remarks, Dr. Fazal encouraged students to learn the language with a strong motivation as this will bring them opportunities and benefit in their future.

Book Fair at The University of Sargodha Promotes Reading and Education

Sargodha, March 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Two-day book fair showcasing thousands of books on various subjects kick-started here at University of Sargodha on Monday. About 10,000 books on various topics from more than 10 renowned publishers were presented for exhibition in the Book fair. The book fair was inaugurated by the Dean faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof. Dr. Ghulam Abbas Gondal and Chief Librarian Dr. Asif Naveed, and other dignitaries were also present.

A large number of students, book lovers and faculty members attracted and showed great interest in purchasing books. The event aimed to promote the habit of reading among students and faculty members, while also providing them with access to a vast collection of books. The book fair featured books from different publishers and authors, covering topics such as science, literature, history, politics, Mathematics, English, Management Sciences, Finance, Human Resources, Computers Sciences, and art. Prof. Dr. Ghulam Abbas Gondal highlighted the importance of reading in the development of students’ intellectual abilities.

He also emphasized the need for students to develop reading habits, as it can help them succeed in their academic and professional careers. “Books are a source of knowledge and they can help students acquire a better understanding of the world around them ‘’. he added. Students and faculty members expressing their appreciation for the wide variety of books available. The event provides an opportunity for students to discover new books, learn about different topics, and expand their knowledge. The University of Sargodha is committed to promoting reading and education among its students and faculty members, and the book fair was a testament to this commitment.

Opening Doors to Opportunities: The University of Sargodha’s Job Fair 2023

Sargodha, March 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): The University of Sargodha organized a Mega event titled ”Job Fair 2023” on Thursday. The Job Fair was aimed at providing students and alumni with the opportunity to interact with potential employers and learn about job openings and career prospects in various fields. More than 50 leading companies and organizations from different sectors conducted on-spot interviews with the candidates.

The fair featured booths and stalls set up by various companies and organizations where students could learn about job requirements, salary packages, and the selection process. The participating companies included national corporations from various sectors including banking, technology, education, healthcare, government, and non-profit organizations.

The organizers received an overwhelming response from the participating companies and the students and alumni who attended the event. The Vice-Chancellor University of Sargodha, Prof. Dr. Qaiser Abbas graced this event and expressed his satisfaction with the success of the Job Fair and congratulated the organizers on their hard work and dedication. He reiterated the university’s commitment to providing its students with the best possible opportunities to build successful careers and contribute to society. We extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to our partner organizations for their active participation and unwavering support in making this event a resounding success, he added.

He also said ‘’this is the first job fair of its kind in the university. We are trying to organize such events in the future as well so that students get employment opportunities.’’ A Mass Communication Student Tahreem Shahid while expressing her feeling said that the Job Fair 2023 is a remarkable occasion for students to expand their knowledge about various career paths, engage with seasoned professionals in their fields of interest, and acquire a competitive advantage in the job market.

Challenges for Higher Education: Addressed at UOS

Sargodha, March 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of Higher Education Commission, Prof. Mukhtar Ahmed, addressed an interactive session titled “Challenges for Higher Education: A way Forward” organized by the University of Sargodha. The event was held at the university’s main campus and was attended by senior faculty members, administrative officers and other distinguished guests.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, welcomed the distinguished guests and thanked them for gracing the University. He spoke about the university’s ongoing academic and research endeavour as well as his long-term objectives for enhancing the university’s reputation. He emphasized the importance of research and innovation in higher education and vowed that the university is committed to providing its students with the best possible education.

During his address, Prof. Mukhtar Ahmed emphasized the importance of education and the role of teachers, which he compared to that of prophets. He stressed that teachers have a crucial role to play in shaping the minds of students and preparing them for the future. He also highlighted the need for producing industry-ready graduates who can contribute to the development of the country’s economy. Dr. Mukhtar also highlighted the importance of collaboration between universities, industry, and the government to address challenges faced by the education sector in Pakistan. He pointed out that universities need to work closely with industry to ensure that their graduates have the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the demands of the job market.

The speech was followed by a question-answer session, during which the audience had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a discussion with the distinguished guest. The event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the guests as a token of appreciation for their participation in the interactive session.

Manzil Pakistan Initiative Inspire Students at University of Sargodha

Sargodha, February 14, 2023 (PPI-OT):The University of Sargodha in collaboration with the Government of Punjab organized a special lecture of renowned motivational speaker, Qasim Ali Shah, under the “Manzil Pakistan Initiative” on Tuesday. The event was attended by a large number of students, faculty, staff and members from civil society who were keenly interested in Mr. Shah’s talk and remained fully engaged throughout the session.

Addressing the occasion, Mr. Shah shared the goal-setting strategies and action plans, citing practical examples from his life to emphasize the importance of making sincere efforts towards contributing to the world. “The success is the result of perseverance and hard work. He encouraged the students to work hard, be persistent in their efforts, and not be afraid of failure.” Mr. Shah highlighted the importance of helping others and contributing to society. He urged the students to use their skills and talents to make a positive difference in the world and to find their potential. He also stressed the importance of staying positive, even in the face of adversity and encouraged the students to cultivate a positive attitude and surround themselves with positive people.

Dr. Ghulam Abbas Gondal, the Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities, also addressed the students, urging them to add positivity to their lives through personal development and grooming. He appreciated Mr Shah’s thought-provoking experiences and presented him with a shield of appreciation. The Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities also presented a souvenir to Mr. Qasim Ali Shah in recognition of his services to the society.

UOS, ICCBS signs MOU to advance scientific research and technological development

Sargodha, February 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):The University of Sargodha and International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) of Karachi University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for promoting research and academic activities. The agreement was duly signed by the Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas and Director ICCBS Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhary (S.I, H.I, and T.I).

Recognizing the importance of active engagement of academic members and researchers, both universities agreed to promote and encourage short and long term exchange of faculty members and professionals between ICCBS and UOS in the fields of specific interest.

Both parties agreed to promote joint research projects in the fields of common interest, whereas joint publications would also be promoted. Faculty training, mutually organizing National and International Workshops, Seminars, Symposia and Conferences were other features of MoU.

Besides promoting collaborative research, UoS and ICCBS would submit joint research projects to national international agencies aiming for funding. Furthermore, a special lecture was organized by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) on the title ‘’Science at the Interface of Chemistry and Biology’’ at NBS School Hall.

Director ICCBS Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhary (S.I, H.I, T.I)) explained that intrinsic relationship between chemistry and biology transcends the formal division of scientific disciplines. He further explained that fields like Biological Chemistry, Chemical Ecology, Bio-organic Chemistry and most recently Chemical Biology have emerged out of the combination of these two disciplines.

Chemical Biology is the youngest of the fields that has emerged from the Chemistry and Biology interface and includes research that involves the synthetic manipulation of chemical species, in order to study biological systems, he added.

Perhaps it is best that the interface of Chemistry and Biology continuously redefines itself and spawn’s new sub-disciplines to serve humanity, he concluded. Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas thanked the worthy guest and appreciated his contributions. Vice chancellor also urged faculty members and students to contribute to society through quality research and innovative ideas.
