International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi signs MoU with German University

Karachi, June 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University Hospital and Faculty of Medicine, Eberhard Karls University Tubingen, Germany.

The ICCBS Spokesman on Wednesday said that the MOU was signed in an online meeting held recently. Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator-General, and Prof. Dr. Michael Bamberg, the Managing Director of the University Hospital Tubingen signed the MoU on behalf of their institutions. It is pertinent to mention here that the faculty of medicine of the Eberhard Karls University of Tubingen is one of the four founding faculties of the University of Tubingen.

According to the spokesman, the MOU aims to establish a mutually beneficial relationship built on academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation. Areas of cooperation between the Institute for Medical Virology and Epidemiology of Viral Diseases, Eberhard Karls University Tuebingen, Faculty of Medicine, Germany, and the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi (ICCBS) include the exchange of faculty professors, researchers, students, publications, academic programs, and research projects, the spokesman said.

MPhil and PhD admissions opened at ICCBS-KU

Karachi, June 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) has officially opened admissions to its internationally famous M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degree Programme-2021. Spokesman of the ICCBS – University of Karachi on Friday said, “Aspiring Candidate can fill in and submit admission forms with scanned copies of prerequisite marks sheet through the online admission portal from June 13, 2021, to June 28, 2021.”

 

He said that the successful students would be granted admissions to the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) and H. E. J. Research Institute of Chemistry. Admissions will be given in various disciplines of sciences, which include Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Textile Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Bio-Organic Chemistry, Pharmacology, and Molecular Medicine, he added. It is pertinent to mention here that Admission Prospectus-2021 and fee voucher could be downloaded from http://eduboard.uok.edu.pk/AdmissionPortal/signin

 

The candidates applying for admissions would submit RS5000 processing fee (non-refundable) in any branch of United Bank Limited. It is also worth mentioning here that a scanned copy of the fee deposit slip must be uploaded along with the admission form latest by June 28, 2021.

Indonesian Consul General visits International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi

Karachi, June 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Indonesian Consul General in Karachi, D. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat has visited the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) University of Karachi recently. In his visit, Dr Hadiningrat had a meeting with Prof. Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator-General, and discussed various topics of mutual interest. The spokesman of the ICCBS on Thursday said that the Indonesian Consul General also met with four scholars from the Airlangga University of Indonesia, pursuing their research work at the ICCBS – University of Karachi.

Following the MOU, signed between ICCBS – University of Karachi and Indonesian institutions, Indonesian scholars visit the international center to have research in a joint research program in the field of chemical and biological research. Dr Hadiningrat, while having a few words in praise of the research center, said that ICCBS – University of Karachi had passed various milestones on the road towards the area of research in chemical and biological sciences.

“The Indonesian government would like to see closer cooperation between Pakistani and Indonesian research and academic institutions,” he said and thanked the scientists at ICCBS for their cooperation with Indonesian scholars. In his speech, Prof. Choudhary welcomed the Indonesian official to the largest research establishment of Pakistan, and hoped that the joint research program between Pakistani and Indonesian scholars would pass another milestone on the way to mutual cooperation between the two countries.

He also hoped that cooperation with Indonesia can also include research and development of vaccines. ICCBS is the only institution in Pakistan that is not only certified by ISO but also became ‘UNESCO, WHO, OIC, and NAM- S and T Centre for Excellence’.

ICCBS-Karachi and Punjab University ink MoU

Karachi, June 21, 2021 (PPI-OT): International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Punjab, Lahore. The memorandum of understanding intends to establish a mutually beneficial relationship built on academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation. The spokesman of the ICCBS-University of Karachi said that the MoU was signed in a meeting held in the vice chancellor office of the Punjab University, Lahore on Friday.

Prof Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator General on the behalf of the ICCBS and Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhter, the Vice Chancellor University of Punjab signed the agreement in the meeting. As per the agreement, areas of cooperation between the University of Punjab and International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi include the exchange of faculty professors, researchers, students, publications, academic programs, and research projects.

The MOU aims to establish training of technical personals of the University of Punjab on various sophisticated instruments of the ICCBS institutions. The memorandum also intends to establish joint supervision, research projects, and joint publications including patents. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Iqbal Choudhary said that ICCBS was the only institution in Pakistan that was not only certified by ISO but also became ‘UNESCO, WHO, OIC, and NAM- S and T Centre for Excellence’. This MOU will be effective for a period of five years from the date of final signature of both institutions.
