YPDC University of Chitral Chapter’s Cabinet approved

Chitral, March 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): Young Peace and Development Corps (YPDC) is an initiative of the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Reforms in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The program aims to engage youth in the development discourse and conflict resolution processes as a policy tool to ensure socioeconomic inclusiveness.

It prepares the youth for their future roles across different sectors from where they can contribute positively and bring positive socioeconomic change. It provides a platform for societal processes (Debate/ Consensus building exercises/Religious Tolerance/Cultural Tolerance etc.), leading to more peaceful societies.

Under this project, empowered “Young Champions of Social Change” are created within safe spaces on campuses also called YPDC Chapters. Currently, there are 80 plus YPDC Chapters across the country. These chapters organize, mobilize, and engage with a wider youth audience to limit their vulnerability towards violence and extremism and take part in policymaking to direct their energies toward development and productivity.

In this connection, the YPDC University of Chitral Chapter has been established and the following cabinet has been approved.

The Women Empowerment Section, Youth Development Center, University of Chitral, organized an event in connection with International Women’s Day in collaboration with the Awakening Organization Swat

Chitral, March 19, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Women Empowerment Section, Youth Development Center, University of Chitral, organized an event in connection with International Women’s Day in collaboration with the Awakening Organization Swat. Mrs. Musarat Jabeen, Principal of Government Girls Degree College Chitral, was the chief guest of the ceremony. The theme for the day was “Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.

The theme for the speech competition was “Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality,” while the painting competition focused on the theme of “Embracing Equality.” Mrs. Musarat Jabeen, Chief Guest of the event, Mr. Zahoor Ul Haq Danish, Convenor Student Societies, University of Chitral, and Mr. Irfan Hussain Babak were judges for the speech competition and Mr. Mohsin ul Mulk Siddiqui, Lecture Computer Science, Ms. Asifa Andaleeb, Lecturer Pakistan Studies, Ms. Nazia Aman, Lecturer Philosophy and Advocate Ms. Raheela Kanwal, were judges for the painting competition.

Following the competitions, a panel discussion was held on the topic of “Challenges Faced by Women in Chitral, Opportunities, and the Way Forward.” Panelists briefly shared their thoughts and stories of struggle with the audience. The panelists included Mrs. Yasmeen Cheema, a YouTuber, Miss Hajiya Hussain from the population department, a businesswoman Miss Nazia, the CEO of Nisa Services, Miss Farida Faree, social activist and writer, along with Miss Dilshad Pari, who is first female SHO from Chitral, stationed at police station Shoghor, and Miss Rizwana Bilquis, lecturer of Botany, University of Chitral. The panelists shared their stories and highlighted the important role of women in society.

The winners of the speech and painting competition were awarded prizes. Fahim Ullah, BBA 1st semester, Sawera Hussain, BS English 3rd semester and Faizyab Sadat, BS CS 3rd semester, respectively stood first, second, and third in the speech competition, and Safina and Ambareena BS Economics 7th semester, Sehrish and Nazish BS Economics 6th semester, Samreena Hussain and group BS English 6th semester were first, second and third winners of the painting competition.

Additionally, to acknowledge the services of our proud daughters of Chitral, appreciation shields were distributed among them. The chief guest, Mrs. Musarat Jabeen, and the CEO of the “The Awakening Organization Swat,” Mr. Irfan Hussain Babak also shared their thoughts regarding the importance of gender equality. Ms. Nahida Noor, the head of the women empowerment section, concluded the program by delivering her closing remarks and expressed her gratitude to the participants for their active participation.

Green Day Celebration was observed in the university of Chitral with the theme of “Each one plant one” on 10/03/2023

Chitral, March 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): The event was organized by the Department of Botany in collaboration with the Forest Department of Chitral. The Chief Guest of the program was Professor Dr. Zahir Shah, the Vice Chancellor University of Chitral while the Guest of honor was Mr. Muhammad Atif Jalib, Assistant Commissioner of Chitral. The Vice-Chancellor said that Pakistan is worst affected by climate change and the recent devastating flood is an example. Climate change can only be controlled through afforestation. event. Sub Divisional forest officer Mr. Umair Nawaz gave a detailed presentation about types of forest in Pakistan and specifically in Chitral. He said that the forest department of Chitral is engaged in ecosystem restoration and afforestation with successful output.

Divisional forest officer Chitral Mr. Asif Ali Shah appreciated the efforts of the university of Chitral in creating awareness among students about the importance of forests. Stage secretary Mr. Hafiz Ullah highlighted that the recent flood has inundated the biodiversity of Chitral. Human input is needed to bring back the lost biodiversity. Dr. Nadeem Hassan, Additional Director of Administration thanked the guests for their time. At the end of the program plant distribution ceremony was held on the lawn of the University of Chitral. Plant saplings were also planted by the Chief Guest and Guest of honor on the lawn of the University of Chitral.

MA Annual Examinations 2022 UFM Hearing

Two-week training program on Office Management and Computer skills starts at the University of Chitral 

Chitral, December 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Honourable Vice Chancellor University of Chitral Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah inaugurated the two-week Training program arranged for the administrative/ supporting staff of the University of Chitral under the guidelines provided by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The Honourable Vice Chancellor in his inaugural speech mentioned the importance of the training for capacity building and enhancing the skills of the employees in the latest and emerging technologies.

He further stated that the main purpose of the training is to increase the productivity and creativity of the employees. He advised the employees to get maximum benefits from the training and equip themselves with the latest knowledge and techniques to raise the standard of the University to new heights.

Directorate of Research, Innovation and Commercialization/GYM Club organized a workshop entitled “Forest Conservation” at the University of Chitral 

Chitral, December 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Directorate of Research, Innovation and Commercialization/GYM Club organized a workshop entitled “Forest Conservation” on 20th December 2022 to shed light on the Conservation methods used in Lower Chitral. The workshop was chaired by Dr. Muhammad Romman, Deputy Director ORIC/ Focal Person GYM Club, University of Chitral. The resource person for the workshop was Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences and Informatics, Balochistan University of IT, Engineering and Management Sciences Quetta, Balochistan.

Dr. Hidayatullah (Agriculture Chemist, Agriculture Research Institute, Quetta, Balochistan), Dr. Nadeem Hassan (Additional Director Administration, University of Chitral), Dr. Habib Ullah Nawab (Convener Oversight Committee (OC), Green Youth Movement (GYM) Club, University of Chitral), Dr. Ishfaq Hameed (Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, University of Chitral), Mr. Saif Ullah (Lecturer, Department of Zoology, University of Chitral) Ms. Rizwana Bilqees (Lecturer, Department of Botany, University of Chitral) and Mrs. Hasin Sahar (Lecturer, Department of Botany, University of Chitral) graced the occasion. Members of the GYM Club were also present at the event.

The workshop concluded with a healthy question and answer session by students and faculty members of various departments. Certificates were distributed by Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed to the participants. A shield was presented to the resource person.
