Book Collection Campaign for Orphan and Underprivileged Children by FoLL

Lahore, January 17, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Faculty of Languages and Literature (FoLL) has launched its Book Collection Campaign for Orphan and underprivileged children. The books will be provided to motivate them for getting education and become civilised citizens of Pakistan.

Kindly join hands with FoLL and donate story, colouring, and Alphabet books for this noble cause. You can also donate colours, pencils, geometry boxes, and bags for deserving children.

The book collection desk is placed in B-Building Lobby every day from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Kindly drop the books in the box placed on the desk. FoLL is expecting all of you to be part of this virtuous deed.

Faculty of Science and Technology has signed a MoU with Enrichers Investment Group 

Lahore, January 16, 2023 (PPI-OT):UCP, Faculty of Science and Technology (FOST) has signed an MoU with Enrichers Investment Group, which is a leading investment company of Pakistan that manages strategic investment consortium and expanded into multiple groups of companies where Enri-Farms is one of them. The main aim of this MoU is to work on a joint project “Applied research on Nano-clay commercially manufacturing for arid land’s irrigation and water conserving capacity building”.

University of Central Punjab has signed a MoU with Walled City of Lahore Authority

Lahore, January 12, 2023 (PPI-OT):UCP and Walled City of Lahore Authority agreed to build cooperation by signing a MoU. The MoU was signed by Dean (FOHSS) Prof. Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt and DG WCLA Mr Kamran Lashari. This MoU will provide an opportunity to UCP faculty members and students to avail 50 percent concession on all guided tours. Students can also do internships and record short films etc. for their academic projects along with the joint seminars and workshops on the importance of history, heritage and tourism of Lahore.

BBA Program Office invites HSY to UCP Business School

Lahore, January 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):Mr. Hassan Shaheryar Yasin, Creative Director HSY and a renowned businessman and board member of various boards throughout including both government and private sectors, visited UCP Business School for a guest speaker session themed “Role of creativity in business – Success story of HSY” on December 27, 2022.

The session was aimed at providing an insight into the marketing and brand-building components of starting a business. Mr. Hassan inspired the young participants with his journey in addition to sharing in-depth market analysis. He emphasized that the cultivation of consumer trust is the secret to establishing and running a successful company.

Additionally, Mr. Hassan Shaheryar underlined the 2030 emergency and informed the students on how to remain competitive in this new era of Artificial Intelligence. The engaging and interactive session was attended by the students, faculty members and the Honourable Dean of UCP Business School, who later had a very insightful discussion with our esteemed guest about the education sector of Pakistan.

The guest speaker session was an initiative by the BBA Program Office of UCP Business School and was organized by Dr. Irfan Siddique, Head of Program BBA, Ms. Madiha Hamid Manager Program BBA and Mr. Moeez Saleem who reached out to the guest.

Session on Supply Chain Management: Introduction and Job Prospects for graduates 

Lahore, January 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):An event was organised by UCP Mechanical Engineering Department and Society of Mechanical Engineers on Supply Chain Management: Introduction and Job Prospects for Graduates. Mr. Muhammad Emad Ul Din, Senior Executive Purchase and Vendor Development, Hyundai Nishat Motor Private Limited was the presenter of this event.

The speaker shared his experience of Supply Chain Management in this session and helped the students to understand the role of supply chain management in any industry followed by a detailed question answer session.

Prof Danish from King’s College London Delivers a Talk on “Decolonizing Water? Understanding Pakistan Floods 2022 as Part of the Colonial Present” 

Lahore, January 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):An invited lecture titled: “Decolonizing Water? Understanding Pakistan Floods 2022 as Part of the Colonial Present” was delivered by Dr. Danish Mustafa. Professor of Critical Geography and Environment, Kings College London, at University of Central Punjab on 28th December, 2022. The event was organized by Voltaire Society and Department of Political Science and International Relations under the auspices of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The key objective of this event was to enlighten the students with the colonial present of the water and describing its DE colonial dimensions, particularly in the case of Pakistan Floods 2022, while expounding the role of local community in water management. Dr. Mustafa started by explaining the reality of water in all its dimensions while highlighting the negotiable relation of water with humanity. Following, he explained the mind-set of the locals regarding the reality of water.

Afterwards, he exclaimed how colonial thinking has undermined our cultural heritage and associated experiences. He also explained how colonial present has been one of the major reasons for the devastation caused in Pakistan.

Lastly, he suggested through his ethnographic research that DE colonial thinking can help solve the problems of Pakistan and that we should envision a healthier world powered by independent thinking.
The discussion was followed by Q and A session where both students and faculty members asked thought provoking questions which were appreciated and diligently answered by Dr. Mustafa.

At the end, the Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt concluded the session with his encouraging remarks and thanked the distinguished guest by presenting him with a souvenir.
