Lahore, February 13, 2023 (PPI-OT):Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FOHSS) signed an MOU with SANGAT Development Foundation on 26 January 2023. Dean FoHSS, Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt, and Mr. M. Zahid Islam, Executive Director Sangat graced the event.

Both organizations agreed to Collaborate in research and R and D projects, offering mentoring and internship opportunities, collaborating in developing and upgrading the curriculum, exchanging research ideas and innovations, and promoting activities of each other as appropriate.

Lahore, February 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):Department of Political Science and IR, FoHSS arranged a seminar on Kashmir Solidarity Day. Mr. Shamshad Ahmad Khan, former permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN and Foreign Secretary of Pakistan was invited as a Chief Guest.

The seminar shed light on the Kashmir issue and highlighted the current status of Kashmir. A special documentary on the Kashmiri struggle was shown in the seminar to visually highlight the issue. A painting exhibition depicting the struggle was also organized.

Besides this, a speech competition was also a part of this seminar where students made speeches highlighting the struggle of the Kashmiri people. After the competition, the Chief Guest addressed the audience and covered several areas such as the current status of Kashmir, historical background, stance of Pakistan on Kashmir, Islamophobia affecting the Kashmir Freedom Movement, OIC role in this issue, and demographic change in Kashmir.

In the end, he gave his insightful suggestions on the Kashmir issue and suggest to improve our policy guidelines. He also suggested that unless Pakistan is not stable and stronger it cannot play an effective role regarding Kashmir. The seminar ended with a concluding note by the Dean of FHSS, Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt. Subsequently, prizes were distributed among the winners of the debating competition and painting competition.

Lahore, February 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Department of Psychology, FoHSS has organized an online seminar on Psychosocial Determinants of Addiction. Dr. Joseph Meagher (a consultant in general adult psychiatry) was the guest speaker at this seminar.

Dr. Joseph spoke about the legal issues that have been attached to addiction all over the world. He specifically spoke about the US and how the prohibition of Alcohol lead to a drug epidemic afterward. He raised a very pertinent question about the prohibition of drugs and how it leads to crime.

Lahore, February 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, FoMS organized a Workshop on “Idea Generation: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities”. Mr. Aakash Luqman (Events and Partnership Lead at COLABS) was invited as a trainer to instill creativity in aspiring entrepreneurs. The speaker motivated the students by discussing the latest market trends and new concepts that have carved out a niche in the local industry.

He shared valuable information about the significance of creativity in market, Fourth Industrial Revolution and the most, crucial innovations that the world is witnessing. He also discussed the “identification of innovative ideas” and “transforming those ideas into businesses” with new products or services. At the end of the session, Mr. Aakash outlined the key aspects that must be considered when picking an innovative business idea through activity.

A very detailed discussion was held on Blockchain, Entrepreneurship, Web 3.0, and Gaming. It was also discussed that these technologies should be utilized in a better way.

Dean FoIT and CS Dr. Amjad Iqbal and Mr. Furqan Aziz, CEO of InvoZone was present at the ceremony. Both officials agreed on providing a working relationship in terms of mentorship, technology transfer, and opportunities of internships for the students of UCP.
