Sumair Ahmad Appointed as New COO of Pakistan Cricket Board.

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of Sumair Ahmad Syed as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) following approval from the Board of Governors during its 75th meeting chaired by Mohsin Naqvi at the National Cricket Academy.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Sumair Ahmad, who has a background as a seasoned civil servant and most recently served as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, will succeed Salman Naseer. Salman Naseer has transitioned to the roles of Advisor to the PCB Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL). Salman had previously indicated his intention not to renew his contract as COO upon completing his five-year term in February 2025.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi welcomed Sumair Ahmad and expressed gratitude for Salman Naseer’s contributions during his tenure. He praised Sumair as a professional with proven administrative skills and expressed confidence in his ability to enhance the PCB’s administrative structures. Additionally, Naqvi highlighted the PCB’s plans to establish PSL as an independent entity and expand the league with two additional teams in 2026, with Salman Naseer leading these efforts in his new role.

Sumair Ahmad expressed his enthusiasm for joining the PCB, emphasizing his commitment to supporting the Chairman’s vision for Pakistan cricket. He highlighted the potential of the organization and the unifying role of cricket for the people of Pakistan.
