SMIU Syndicate Reviews University Progress in 33rd Meeting

Karachi: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) convened its 33rd Syndicate meeting on Monday, addressing various financial, academic, and administrative matters crucial to the institution's operations. Chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, the meeting saw significant decisions made, including the approval of minutes from several university committees and boards.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, the report of the university's 6th convocation, held in July 2025, was presented during the meeting. The convocation, which conferred degrees to 376 graduating students, was attended by prominent figures such as the Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, and the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori. It was noted that the first PhD degree from SMIU was also awarded during this event. The Syndicate also discussed and implemented disciplinary decisions.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Sahrai addressed the Syndicate, emphasizing SMIU's commitment to quality education, research, and student-centered policies. He highlighted the university's efforts to provide modern facilities, encourage research, and foster industry linkages through events such as the 3rd Global Research Congress held in December 2025. Dr. Sahrai underscored the importance of regular meetings of statutory bodies in the decision-making process.

The meeting was attended by a diverse group of Syndicate members, including Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab, Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, Mr. Sulaiman Ahmad, and others representing various academic and administrative departments of the university.
