Sargodha: The University of Sargodha’s Career Development Center (CDC) has launched a new Skill Development Program (SDP) to enhance the personal and professional capabilities of students and recent graduates during the summer break. The program began with a workshop on English Language and Communication Skills at the CDC Hall.
The inaugural session was led by Ms. Warda Tun Naeem, a lecturer from the Department of English. Her lecture covered key areas such as reading, writing, and listening, engaging approximately 100 students keen to utilize the summer productively by acquiring essential soft skills.
The Skill Development Program offers workshops on various technical and communication-based skills, focusing on fostering independent thinking, creativity, and innovation. This initiative addresses limited employment opportunities by equipping students with the confidence and competencies needed for diverse career paths, including self-employment and freelancing.
The CDC received over 2,400 registrations and aims to train at least 1,500 students and graduates this summer through various sessions. Ms. Masooma Zahara, Career Development Officer, emphasized the commitment to providing a platform for students to grow and prepare for emerging career opportunities.
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal, Director ORIC, highlighted the importance of skill-based education in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and market requirements.
Besides the English Language workshop, the program includes sessions on Creating and Growing Your Vlog, Office Management, Personal Branding, and other professional skills. The University encourages students and recent graduates to stay connected with the CDC and take advantage of the sessions scheduled throughout the summer.
