Karachi: The Government of Sindh, through its Information, Science and Technology Department, has announced the launch of the People’s Information Technology Programme, offering free IT certifications to enhance employability and digital literacy among the youth of the province. The programme, fully funded by the Sindh government, aims to provide the young population with practical skills and industry-recognized certifications to better prepare them for the job market.
According to Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, the initiative will be available at various prestigious universities across the province including NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology in Jamshoro, and Sukkur IBA University. These institutions will host a variety of IT certification courses such as Certified Java Developer, Python Developer, Database Administrator, and more, designed to cater to the increasing demand for IT skills in various sectors.
The programme targets individuals up to 22 years of age who have completed their higher secondary schooling or equivalent. Each course spans two months with classes held five days a week, aiming to train a total of 10,000 participants. This educational opportunity is particularly geared towards bridging the digital divide by equipping underserved youth with essential skills, thereby fostering potential entrepreneurship and contributing to societal benefits like poverty reduction and social mobility.
Registration for the courses is now open with specific links provided for candidates from different divisions of Sindh, ensuring accessibility to a broad range of participants. The initiative not only aims to enhance individual capabilities but also to drive societal change by integrating more young people into the digital economy, significantly impacting the overall development of the region.
