Jamshoro: In a significant step toward enhancing digital literacy and employability among the youth, the Government of Sindh, in collaboration with Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, has launched the People’s Information Technology Programme. This initiative offers fully funded certifications in various IT fields, aiming to equip participants with industry-recognized skills and increase job prospects in the growing IT sector.
According to Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, the program is designed to provide comprehensive training in fields such as Java Development, Python Programming, and Digital Marketing among others. Courses will be conducted physically at Mehran University’s main campus in Jamshoro and at designated centers in Hyderabad, Dadu, and Mirpurkhas. This initiative not only targets skill enhancement but also aims to bridge the digital divide and foster entrepreneurial spirit among the young population in the region.
The certifications, spanning two months each, will be taught five days a week with three hours of instruction per day. Prospective students up to the age of 22 can register by September 15, 2024, with the courses commencing shortly thereafter. Benefits for participants include not only the potential for increased employability and digital literacy but also the opportunity to engage in IT-related business startups or freelance ventures.
