Lahore: A seminar focused on interfaith harmony was held at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, part of the Punjab Government's initiative to express solidarity with religious minorities. The event, organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs, attracted many faculty members and students.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, the keynote speaker, Associate Professor Dr. Tanveer Qasim of the Department of Islamic Studies, emphasized religious tolerance, mutual respect, and social peace. He highlighted Pakistan's diverse cultural and religious landscape, stressing the importance of respecting the religious rights and freedoms of all citizens for sustainable peace and stability.

Dr. Qasim noted that Islam advocates for peace and tolerance and that history is replete with examples of peaceful coexistence. He clarified that the goal of interfaith harmony is not to homogenize beliefs but to promote mutual respect and dialogue among different religious and ideological perspectives. He underscored the need to educate the youth on tolerance and constructive dialogue to combat hatred and prejudice.

Furthermore, Dr. Qasim acknowledged the significant contributions of Pakistan’s religious minority communities in sectors like education, healthcare, defense, and the economy. He called for educational institutions to foster environments where differences can be addressed through reason and dialogue.

The seminar concluded with a consensus that religious tolerance and mutual respect should extend beyond a designated week and become integral to daily life and education. The event sought to promote solidarity with religious minorities and strengthen national unity among students, who reaffirmed their commitment to fostering peace, tolerance, and interfaith harmony.
