Islamabad: The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) announced the appointment of Mr. Heshana Kuruppu as its new President and Mr. Ashfaq Yousuf Tola as Vice President for the year 2024. Both leaders bring extensive experience in accounting and finance, reflecting SAFA’s strategic direction for the upcoming year.
According to South Asian Federation of Accountants, Mr. Kuruppu, currently the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, has been an active member of the accounting community, contributing to various committees both locally and regionally. He served as the Vice President of SAFA in 2023 and has played a significant role in enhancing transparency and governance within the organization.
Mr. Tola, a past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and a former Minister of State, brings over three decades of experience in tax planning, assurance services, and financial consulting. His extensive service includes roles in significant economic and fiscal committees and international accounting bodies, underlining his expertise and dedication to advancing the accounting profession in South Asia.
The leadership transition marks a continued commitment to addressing the challenges and opportunities in the accounting field, particularly in fostering cooperation among member nations within the SAARC region.
