Regional Skills Development Camps for U19 Cricketers Set to Launch Across Pakistan

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the initiation of countrywide Regional Skills Development camps for men’s U19 cricketers, scheduled to start on 4 August. The camps will feature teams from all 16 regions, with each team comprising 20 players selected based on their performance in national U19 tournaments and this year’s district cricket tournaments. The four-week camps are designed to enhance skills, game awareness, and technical capabilities while introducing a standardized fitness culture at the youth level.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, a workshop for regional coaches was recently conducted at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. The workshop, led by Director – High Performance, Nadeem Khan, aimed to align the coaching strategies with the philosophies of men’s white-ball and red-ball head coaches, Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, respectively. The session emphasized technical skills, tactical knowledge, fitness, and fielding.

The regional U19 camps are set to foster a new generation of professional cricketers, focusing on intensive skill development and physical conditioning. Director – High Performance, Nadeem Khan, highlighted the importance of investing in this age group to cultivate competitively skilled players in line with PCB’s long-term goals.

Regional academies across Pakistan, including prominent venues like Abbottabad Stadium and Hanif Mohammad HPC in Karachi, will host these camps. Notably, Karachi and Lahore will each have two teams participating, reflecting the extensive cricketing infrastructure in these cities.
