Karachi: A Quran recitation ceremony took place at the residence of Dr. Fawzia, chairperson of the Aafia Movement, marking the second anniversary of her mother, Ismat Siddiqui. The event also served as a somber remembrance for Ismat, who spent 19 years advocating for her daughter, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release from an American prison.
According to Aafia Movement, The ceremony was a poignant tribute to Ismat Siddiqui, whose daughter, Dr. Aafia, has been incarcerated for 21 years. Attendees of the ceremony later visited the cemetery to offer prayers for both Ismat and Dr. Aafia. Ismat, in her final days, expressed a heartfelt wish regarding her daughter’s freedom, underscoring her enduring hope and love. This event not only commemorated Ismat’s life and efforts but also highlighted the ongoing struggle of the Aafia Movement in seeking justice for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
