Quran Memorization and Qirat Competition Concludes at IIUI in Islamabad

Islamabad, The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with Ittihad Al-Qura Pakistan Al-Alami, recently concluded the All-Pakistan Memorization of the Quran with Tajweed competition and the international Mehfil e Qir’at at the Faisal Mosque campus. The event saw participation from 15 finalists, selected from a pool of 500 competitors from schools and madrasas across Pakistan, showcasing their proficiency in Quran memorization and recitation.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the competition was graced by notable Qurra from Egypt and Pakistan, including Sheikh Samir Bilal and Sheikh Yasir Saraya, alongside Pakistani Qari Yasir Sohail Tareen. Hafiz Moeedullah from the Pishin district of Balochistan emerged as the winner, receiving an Umrah ticket for his achievement. Hafiz Muhammad Nauman of Haripur secured the second position with a cash prize of 20,000, while Muhammad Mujahid from Lodhran clinched the third spot along with 10,000 cash prize.

The ceremony featured the distribution of awards by Nasir Farid, Head of Public Relations at IIUI, Qari Muhammad Zaman Usmani, Chairman of Ittihad Al-Qura, and various Ulema. The panel of judges for the competition included Maulana Qari Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, Maulana Qari Abdul Sattar Shah, and Maulana Qari Abdul Qayyum Batalvi, who evaluated the participants based on their memorization and recitation skills.

Nasir Farid emphasized IIUI’s commitment to promoting Islamic teachings through research and the importance of the Quran in achieving success in both this world and the hereafter. He also mentioned the significant contribution of the Saudi government in funding the renovation of the Faisal Mosque, a gesture appreciated by the Pakistani nation. Furthermore, plans for the construction of a similar mosque within the IIUI campus, supported by the Saudi government, were announced as a testament to the ongoing efforts of IIUI President H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Al-Otaibi in advancing religious services and education.

Qari Muhammad Zaman Usmani outlined the competition’s stages and the role of Ittihad Al-Qura in fostering Quran memorization and recitation skills among participants, highlighting the event’s success in promoting Islamic cultural heritage and education.
