LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali paid homage to the individuals who played pivotal roles in liberating Pakistan in 1947 and safeguarding its sovereignty on May 10, 2025. He spoke at a flag hoisting ceremony marking the nation’s 78th Independence Day, held outside the university’s administrative block.
The event saw participation from Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Registrar Dr Ahmad Islam, deans, faculty members, staff, students, and their families. Prof Dr Muhammad Ali unfurled the national flag and released pigeons as a symbol of peace and freedom.
In his address, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali emphasized the significance of renewing commitments to protect the nation, its people, and their beliefs. He expressed gratitude for the country’s triumph in Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, highlighting it as a testament to Pakistan’s strength and unity.
Prof Dr Muhammad Ali stressed the importance of patriotism, especially as participants braved inclement weather to attend the ceremony. He urged continued dedication to celebrating Pakistan’s independence with fervor.
Additionally, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali underscored the necessity of technological and economic progress for national prosperity, asserting that education is the cornerstone of such development. He lauded the role of universities, particularly Punjab University, in advancing educational growth and contributing to the nation’s future.
