Punjab University to Host Seminar on SCO’s Role in Regional Development

Lahore: The University of the Punjab’s Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS), in collaboration with the Center of Pakistan and International Relations (COPAIR), is set to conduct a seminar titled “Significance of SCO for Regional Cooperation and Development” on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. This event aims to explore the strategic role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in fostering regional ties and development amidst emerging geopolitical challenges.

According to University of the Punjab, the seminar will be presided over by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Director General of the National Language Promotion Department, Islamabad. Ms. Amna Munawar Awan, President of COPAIR, will serve as the keynote speaker and chief guest. Alongside her, Prof. Dr. Rana Ijaz Ahmed from the Department of Political Science at Punjab University will discuss the socio-economic cooperation among SCO members and the dynamics of new political blocs in the region.

The seminar aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the SCO’s impact on regional cooperation and address the security challenges that influence socio-political and economic developments in the area. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to enhancing understanding of international relations and regional dynamics through academic discourse.
