Lahore: The Punjab University Pakistan Study Centre (PSC) hosted a seminar titled “IMF and Pakistan’s Economy” on Wednesday, July 03, 2024, drawing a significant gathering of academic experts, faculty members, and postgraduate scholars. The event featured insightful discussions on the complexities of Pakistan’s financial strategies and its interactions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
According to University of the Punjab, The seminar was led by PSC Director Prof Dr. Naumana Kiran and Dr. Tahir Ejaz, Director Academic at Punjab Group of Colleges. Dr. Kiran emphasized the need for visionary leadership within Pakistan to overcome economic hurdles and develop a self-reliant strategy to break free from the IMF’s cyclical influence. She stressed that the nation’s decision-makers and political leaders must cultivate a deeper understanding of economic issues to navigate away from dependency on external financial bodies.
Dr. Ejaz delved into critical economic concepts and their implications on national economics. He highlighted the prevalent misconceptions about the IMF in Pakistan, providing clarity on the real issues at hand.
