Punjab University Hosts Training Workshop to Enhance Skills of Librarians Across Punjab

Lahore: Punjab University Library, in collaboration with the Archives and Libraries Wing of the Government of Punjab, held a training workshop aimed at equipping librarians with advanced skills in online searching and resource management. The event, which gathered librarians from across Punjab, emphasized innovation and policy development to improve public libraries.

According to University of the Punjab, the workshop was attended by a number of key figures, including Chief Librarian Dr. Muhammad Haroon Usmani and Secretary of the Archives and Libraries Zahoor Hussain. Discussions at the workshop focused on utilizing free online resources, leveraging library resources for research, and fostering innovation in library services.

Dr. Haroon Usmani and Syed Saleem Abbas Zaidi, Deputy Chief Librarian, opened the session by welcoming the participants and highlighting the critical role of librarians in the age of digital information. The workshop also addressed the importance of continuous professional development in library sciences and the potential for future collaborations to enhance the capabilities of librarians.

Secretary Zahoor Hussain acknowledged the efforts of the Punjab University Library in organizing the event and stressed the importance of such initiatives for the development of public libraries in Punjab. He expressed optimism that the ongoing collaboration between public libraries and the University would lead to significant improvements in library services throughout the region.

The training session concluded with a call for ongoing engagement and skill enhancement among librarians to better serve the educational and informational needs of the public.
