LAHORE: The Punjab University Department of History & Pakistan Studies organized a seminar to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the establishment of Mughal rule in India, marking the arrival of Zahir-ud-din Muhammad Babur as the founder of the Mughal dynasty. The event aimed to foster historical dialogue, interdisciplinary research, and scholarly exchange.

According to University of the Punjab, the seminar included lectures by historians, research presentations, a panel discussion, and an exhibition of manuscripts and photographs. Dean Faculty of Arts & Humanities Prof. Dr. Mahboob Hussain, Chairperson Department of History Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Iftikhar, and professors from various universities in Uzbekistan participated. Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Iftikhar emphasized Babur's historical and cultural legacy in Pakistan, while Prof. Dr. Mahboob Hussain expressed gratitude to the Uzbek delegates. The event offered an opportunity for young researchers to reassess the Mughal period using primary sources and modern scholarship.

The Uzbek delegation also met with Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, who highlighted the importance of international academic collaborations in advancing research and fostering global engagement.
