LAHORE: Punjab University Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) inaugurated a four-day international training program focused on "Genome Editing and Crop Biotechnology to Address Climate Challenges." The event was attended by a diverse group of experts, faculty members, and students from various countries.

According to University of the Punjab, the ceremony included participation from PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Mr. Abdul Rauf Maroof from the Tajik Embassy, and other prominent figures. The program aims to provide training on modern approaches to addressing climate impacts through genome editing and crop biotechnology. Delegates from Tajikistan, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, and Uzbekistan were welcomed, underscoring the workshop's emphasis on international collaboration.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali highlighted the significant work of CEMB researchers and praised their advancements in technologies such as CRISPR. Mr. Abdul Rauf Maroof emphasized the strong relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan in education and technology, noting the importance of such programs for institutional linkages. Prof. Shahid Baig and Prof. Dr. Moazur Rahman also spoke on CEMB's role as a leading scientific institution and its ongoing research initiatives. The workshop, which runs from September 22 to 25, aims to enhance knowledge and practical skills in genome editing among participants.
