Lahore: Punjab University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (ICET) organized a condolence reference to honor its distinguished former teachers. The event commemorated the contributions of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arif Butt, Prof. Dr. Asghar Ali Butt, Prof. Dr. Arshad Chughtai, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali to the field of Chemical Engineering and the university.
According to University of the Punjab, the event was attended by notable figures including PU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mahmood Saleem, Vice Chancellor of UET Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, and several other prominent members of the academic and professional community. Prof. Dr. Mahmood Saleem and Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir paid tribute to the late teachers, emphasizing their significant contributions to engineering education and the university's academic community.
Director of ICET, Prof. Dr. Syed Nadir Hussain, highlighted the lasting impact of the late teachers on academic excellence, research, and the development of Chemical Engineering at ICET. He expressed gratitude to PU VC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali for his role in organizing the event. The event also featured personal memories shared by alumni, faculty, and colleagues, reflecting on the professional integrity and personal qualities of the late educators.
Family members of the late teachers were present, adding a personal touch to the proceedings. A Memorial Tree Plantation Ceremony was conducted to symbolize the teachers' enduring legacy, with trees planted in their memory. Participants prayed for the departed souls, wishing them the highest ranks in Jannat-ul-Firdous.
