Punjab University Delegation Forges Strong Ties in China

Lahore: A high-level delegation from Punjab University (PU), led by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, returned to Pakistan following a productive official visit to China. The delegation included prominent faculty members such as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof Dr Mahboob Hussain and Dean of Geo-sciences Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, along with senior officers from the Governor’s Office.

During the visit, the PU delegation signed a series of memorandums of understanding with Chinese universities and research institutions, aiming to enhance educational, research, and cultural cooperation. A significant aspect of the trip was their participation in an international conference of ASEAN countries, where they engaged in discussions with representatives from various nations. These interactions are expected to foster new avenues for collaboration between PU and international institutions.

The conference, attended by delegates from six countries, featured a detailed briefing by the PU delegation on their teaching and research activities. A notable achievement of the visit was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at PU and its counterpart at Anshan University in China. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali presided over the signing ceremony.

This agreement will facilitate academic exchanges, joint research projects, and promote cultural understanding between the two institutions. The deans of both faculties expressed optimism about the agreement, viewing it as a strategic move to strengthen academic and research relations between Pakistan and China.

This visit marks a significant milestone in expanding the international presence and influence of Pakistan’s higher education institutions.
