Aafia Movement Urges Government Action on Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s Case

KARACHI: In a recent meeting, the Aafia Movement’s central and Karachi chapter leaders voiced their concerns over an allegedly irresponsible statement regarding Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. They called upon Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to take decisive action either by bringing Dr. Siddiqui back to Pakistan or by personally visiting her in jail to better understand her condition.

The meeting participants expressed their dissatisfaction with recent governmental statements concerning Dr. Siddiqui’s situation. The Aafia Movement, spearheaded by Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui, a prominent neurophysician, urged members to maintain composure.

Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui assured the attendees that Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif had already established a committee to address the issue. She expressed optimism that the committee’s efforts would soon yield positive results, advising Aafia Movement supporters to remain patient for a short while longer.

Dr. Fowzia also conveyed gratitude to the people of Pakistan for their ongoing support and solidarity with Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
