LAHORE: Punjab University (PU) has partnered with JS Bank to introduce a QR code-based payment system for university fee transactions, marking the institution as the first public sector university to implement this technology. The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two entities, aiming to enhance digital payment solutions for students.
According to University of the Punjab, the MoU signing ceremony took place at the Vice Chancellor's Office, attended by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad Ali, other university officials, and representatives from JS Bank and the State Bank. The initiative will utilize Zindigi's Raast Dynamic QR system, allowing students to pay tuition and other fees digitally via mobile banking applications. This system promises real-time payment processing, reduced manual handling, and increased transparency in transactions.
Prof Dr. Muhammad Ali noted the university's commitment to leveraging modern technology to improve administrative efficiency and student services. He emphasized that this digitization effort aligns with PU's goal of creating a cashless and paperless campus, reducing bank queues, and streamlining financial processes. JS Bank representatives highlighted that their Raast Dynamic QR solution is secure and compliant with State Bank regulations, facilitating instant interbank transfers. Both parties expressed optimism about enhancing PU's digital infrastructure through this partnership.
