President’s Trophy Final Marks Return of First-Class Cricket to Bagh-e-Jinnah After Two Decades

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the return of first-class cricket to the historic Bagh-e-Jinnah Cricket Ground in Lahore after a 21-year hiatus. The President's Trophy Grade-I 2026-27 final will take place at this iconic venue from October 27 to 31, featuring a match between Markhor IT Solutions and the State Bank of Pakistan.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Bagh-e-Jinnah previously hosted three Test matches in the 1950s and last saw first-class action in 2005 during a three-day match between Pakistan A and England XI. Since its establishment in 1923, the ground has seen 148 first-class matches, including three Tests, along with 32 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches, 21 men's List A, and 16 competitive T20s.

In a recent effort to revive red-ball cricket at the venue, the PCB conducted the non-first-class four-day final of the President's Trophy Grade-II Silver Tournament from October 20 to 23. The Grade-I final aims to honor the ground's rich history and its significant role in Pakistan cricket.
