Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari welcomed orphaned children at an Iftar dinner held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, highlighting the importance of education and personal growth. The event, organized for children under the care of the Pakistan Orphan Care Forum, saw the President distributing computer tablets to encourage learning.
During the ceremony, President Zardari urged the children to utilize the tablets for educational purposes. The tablets were gifted on the suggestion of First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari. The President emphasized that these tools should aid in the children’s personal development and academic pursuits.
President Zardari also stressed the importance of education in his interactions with the children, stating that they were as dear to him as his own. He encouraged them to focus on their studies with dedication and commitment.
The event also featured remarks from Air Marshal (Retd.) Farooq Habib, Chairman of the Pakistan Orphan Care Forum. He addressed the critical issue of orphaned children, noting that Pakistan is home to approximately 4.6 million orphaned children. Habib stated that the Forum and its affiliates are currently supporting nearly 120,000 children across the country.
Habib called for societal responsibility in caring for orphaned and underprivileged children, emphasizing that it is a collective duty. He expressed gratitude to President Zardari for his support and for hosting the event at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
