Karachi: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the founder of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, delivered a significant address emphasizing the importance of love in faith during his third lecture in Itikaf City. He stated that hearts lacking love are spiritually lifeless and underlined that divine love fosters humility, while arrogance arises from its absence.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri plans to give a special address at a grand gathering on the night of the 27th of Ramadan. Arrangements have been made to accommodate additional attendees for a voluntary one-night Itikaf.
In his lecture, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri explained that love, humility, and modesty are foundational to the journey of faith. Citing Imam Ghazali, he remarked that love for Allah represents the pinnacle of spiritual achievement. He warned that a heart preoccupied with worldly desires cannot house divine love and stressed that a deficiency in love weakens faith.
He further articulated that love for the Divine brings tranquility, while worldly attachments lead to distress. He highlighted that the Holy Prophet was an embodiment of love and compassion, emphasizing that religion intertwines with love, compassion, and sacrifice.
Dr. Qadri expressed concern over the current state of knowledge claimants, noting a lack of love and compassion. He urged that Islam should not be reduced to philosophy but should be practiced as a path of love, kindness, and forgiveness. He encouraged preachers and scholars to embody these values and to promote unity rather than discord.
The address concluded with special prayers for national security and prosperity.
