KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and the martyrs of democracy on the 18th anniversary of the Karsaz tragedy.
In his statement, President Zardari highlighted Benazir Bhutto’s return to Pakistan despite clear threats to her life. He emphasized her determination, noting that she continued her struggle for democracy even after the terrorist attack at Karsaz.
President Zardari recalled that Bhutto visited hospitals and neighborhoods the day after the attack. She met with the injured and consoled bereaved families, underscoring her concern for her workers and the people of Pakistan.
He expressed that from the day of the Karsaz tragedy until her martyrdom, Bhutto’s life and sacrifice have remained a guiding force for those advocating democracy and peace.
President Zardari remarked that as Pakistan faces ongoing challenges from terrorism and extremism, the courage and sacrifice of the Karsaz martyrs strengthen the nation’s resolve to overcome such threats.
