President Zardari Highlights Role of Auditor General in Financial Accountability

ISLAMABAD: Auditor General of Pakistan, Mr. Maqbool Ahmad Gondal, called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr today. The President acknowledged the Department of the Auditor General of Pakistan’s efforts in promoting financial accountability and transparency.

President Zardari emphasized the constitutional significance of the Auditor General’s office in maintaining fiscal discipline and enhancing the country’s public financial management. He noted that the AGP’s work is essential in identifying systemic weaknesses and ensuring the responsible use of national resources.

The President encouraged continued reform efforts within the Auditor General’s department, stressing the importance of collaboration with stakeholders to improve service delivery. He highlighted the need for effective follow-up on audit findings to reduce corruption and financial irregularities.

In addition, President Zardari advocated for the adoption of international best practices and the integration of artificial intelligence and IT-based audit tools to strengthen internal controls and transparency.

The President concluded by expressing confidence in the AGP’s office to uphold accountability standards, given the increasing demand for financial transparency and efficient governance.
