Islamabad: Mr. Ilyas Mehmood Nizami, the newly appointed Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Romania, met with President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr today. The meeting marked a significant moment as the two countries celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations.
During the meeting, President Zardari extended his congratulations to Mr. Nizami on his new role and underscored Romania’s importance as a partner in Central and Eastern Europe. He emphasized the need to broaden cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.
President Zardari advised Mr. Nizami to focus on economic diplomacy, aiming to enhance bilateral trade and explore opportunities in renewable energy, technology, and agriculture. This emphasis aligns with the 2025 Memorandum of Understanding on Trade and Economic Cooperation with the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce.
Additionally, President Zardari highlighted the importance of upcoming business delegations from Pakistan and urged greater engagement with the Pakistani diaspora. He also encouraged the promotion of Pakistan’s art and culture to commemorate the 60-year milestone of bilateral relations.
