Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari expressed gratitude to global leaders and nations for their solidarity with Pakistan during a time of grief. He emphasized the importance of a collective resolve in combating terrorism and highlighted the necessity of international cooperation in addressing the violent ideology that fuels it.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari acknowledged the messages of sympathy and solidarity from world leaders, governments, and international organizations, which have provided comfort to the Pakistani people and strength to mourning families. He reiterated that terrorism is a global responsibility that requires a unified approach, stressing that no single country can confront it alone.
President Zardari pointed out that Pakistan's experience has shown the dangers posed when terrorist groups are granted freedom to operate beyond national borders. He expressed concern over neighboring countries facilitating terrorist activities against Pakistan, noting that some nations not only finance these groups but also provide them with technical and military support. This situation, he said, has influenced regional developments in recent years.
The President also criticized the conditions in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime, comparing them to the pre-9/11 era when terrorist organizations posed threats to global peace. He accused Pakistan's eastern neighbor of aiding the Taliban regime, thereby jeopardizing both regional and global stability.
President Zardari conveyed his appreciation for the international community's compassion and support, stating that this solidarity bolsters Pakistan's determination to collaborate with partners to achieve peace, stability, and an end to terrorism in all its forms.
