Islamabad: On the occasion of the new Islamic year 1446 Hijrah, President Asif Ali Zardari has issued a call for national unity and interfaith harmony, urging the nation to embrace qualities of affection, forbearance, and tolerance.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari’s message, released by the President Secretariat Press Wing, emphasized the significance of Muharram-ul-Haram in Islamic history and its lessons of introspection and devotion. He highlighted the historical sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, which he described as exemplars of resilience and righteousness in the face of adversity. The President also expressed his hopes for the country’s peace, stability, progress, and prosperity in the coming year and stressed the importance of differentiating between virtue and evil as guided by Islamic teachings.
