Changsha, China: President Asif Ali Zardari today conferred the Sitara-i-Pakistan upon Prof. Pan Xiangbin at a special investiture ceremony held here, recognizing his contributions to cardiac care and services to patients in Pakistan.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Prof. Pan Xiangbin, an interventional cardiologist and cardiac surgeon, serves as Vice President of Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Director of the National Interventional Quality Control Center for Structural Heart Disease. He is noted for his leadership in developing diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, including patented ultrasound-guided interventional techniques.
Prof. Pan's visit to Pakistan in January 2025 included performing life-saving procedures on children with congenital heart disease and training Pakistani medical professionals in advanced techniques. President Zardari highlighted these efforts as a testament to Pakistan-China cooperation in strengthening healthcare capacity.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Ali Hassan Barohi, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, China's Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, and Pakistan's Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi.
