President Zardari Advances Economic Ties with Chery Holding in Shanghai

Shanghai: President Asif Ali Zardari met with Mr. Yin Tongyue, Chairman of Chery Holding Co., Ltd., in Shanghai today. The discussions centered on Chery Auto’s increasing interest in the Pakistani market, particularly in the areas of electric vehicles and component localization.

Accompanying the President were First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Senator Saleem Mandviwalla. They were joined by Sindh Ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi.

Mr. Yin provided a comprehensive briefing on Chery Auto’s global operations and its focus on technological innovation. He outlined the company’s achievements in international markets and its plans to introduce electric buses in Pakistan.

President Zardari conveyed his appreciation for Chery’s initiatives and assured that the Pakistani government would offer policy support for new energy vehicles. He emphasized the potential for joint ventures in electric buses, green energy solutions, and charging infrastructure.

The President encouraged collaboration with Pakistani companies in sectors such as manufacturing, minerals, and energy storage. He noted that Chery’s investments could lead to significant employment opportunities for young Pakistanis.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about future partnerships and economic growth facilitated by Chery’s potential ventures in Pakistan.
